Into The DeviantArt Hundreds! In Recovery From Flickr.

A highlight for me this summer was getting close to, and at last with the image above hitting 100 Likes, or Faves or whatever on DeviantArt. I know not wanting to leave followers and all those lovely 'Faves' behind at Flickr was a huge driving force in peoples choice to go Flickr Pro. But I've stayed Non-Pro myself. For several reasons. Chiefly i didn't feel I can promote alternatives to those who cannot or will not pay Flickr, by being safely Flickr Pro myself and saying "Just use that site there i told you about, I'm sure it will be fine!". I felt i had to be 100% on those platforms myself to champion them and explore them fully for my members. Ali covers Flickr brilliantly for our group. And the advantages of that platform need no introduction from me. But this new landscape of NSFW hosts needed me to do my bit. So, I'm very happy to have effectively left Flickr for the most part, aside from an occasional 'Safe' image. And built up a new base at a brand new venue to the point I'm getting pretty much the same feedback as i did before it all went to sh*t. You can't put any old thing on there and get an overwhelming reaction, but i find if i am truly happy and love a pic it does pretty well. It's quite honest feedback.

The best bit is a bunch of new people got to see me, and what I'm all about. Many of them are former Second Life users who have come back, and re discovered SL since seeing mine and other Pornstars Pics too in our new DeviantArt Sexiest® Group. You're welcome LL!

My reasons for concern over all this was as Sexiest® Pornstars Group owners myself and Emmanuelle Jameson attempted to navigate a similar event when Naughty Machinima, the website that hosted 99% of the scenes movies went Pay to use a decade or so ago. Emma even lost her whole body of work when the web site scrubbed servers in preparation to monetize! Truly Devastating and some producers just gave up. We tried to keep things together with the limited options available at the time, but our Movie scene was scattered all over the net. A huge sense of community among the movie makers was lost, and I don't think it ever recovered long term. I was determined to not let that happen to anybody who could not pay to show their pictures. Or to see any form of class system arise. But, I'm happy to say with the large numbers going Flickr Pro, together with the superb free options uncovered. Such as DeviantArt, Slushe.Com, and Twitter which I've showcased and supported in our Group and on the Pornstars Blog. I'm happy to report, there has been no downturn in the Erotic Photo scene. However, i'm sure you can appreciate how i worried at the time, and wanted to take steps to avoid this great scene from suffering as it did before. I feel we've also 'Future Proofed' the Pornstars scene in the event Flickr further changes its TOS. With established Pornstars Communities now in place and thriving at many alternative homes for our Porn Projects.
